ABOUT OUR WAXING Technique

Waxing tends to have a bit of a reputation for being painful, uncomfortable and scary. We see waxing scenes in movies that make us cringe, hear stories of the dreaded nail salon wax, or maybe even tried it out at one point and simply didn’t have a stellar experience.

Waxing CAN be a pleasant and easy experience. At Stone Free, it is our priority to give our clients the peace of mind that their experience will be quick with very little discomfort in a comfortable, professional, sanitary environment. Stone Free is body positive and a judgment free space, no need to feel self-conscious!

For your comfort, we believe that waxing should not be drawn out or take longer than it has to. With a swift technique and very close attention to detail, your wax will most likely be the quickest and closest to painless you’ve ever had. We primarily use a very high quality soft wax that’s created specifically for sensitive skin. If you have a wax preference, please reach out to us ahead of time to make sure you’re booked with the right esthetician for you!

Your health and cleanliness are taken very seriously. We take every effort possible to maintain a sanitary environment at all times. Gloves are worn for all body waxing services and sticks are never double dipped.

Bikini or Brazilian ?

Below is an example of the differences between the Bikini and Brazilian wax. In pink, are the areas that are waxed, the grey area is your hair that is left untouched. With a Brazilian you have the option to leave a strip, triangle, or shape of your choice on top. Our Bikini takes a bit more hair than a traditional bikini wax, you may choose to leave more hair on the top for a natural look. Bikini and Bikini + Backside do not include any hair taken from the labia. All Bikini and Brazilians take about 3 inches on the inner thigh and tummy trail upon request.

Waxing FAQ

  • For best results do not trim or shave the area for 3 weeks. Hair growth that is any less than 2 weeks will most likely be too short for the wax to even pick up. The hair should be about the length of an eyelash or a grain of rice. No need to trim, we will do that if it’s needed!e

  • The worst part of waxing is the anticipation. Almost every single first timer says “It wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be”, so try to stay relaxed and not worry! Take 2 ibuprofen an hour before your appointment. The following may cause you to be more sensitive and should be avoided before your appointment if possible; caffeine, smoking, sugar, stress (this is actually a big one). Keep in mind that discomfort during waxing feels significantly easier and your service will be quicker when you stay on a regular schedule of every 5 weeks.

  • Yes! If you’re on your period or spotting just put in a fresh tampon right before your appointment. 

  • Yes. Moisturized skin is actually preferred, particularly on leg and arm waxing.

  • You cannot get facial waxing if you’re currently using any of the following medications: Accutane (must be off for 1 year to receive any waxing service) • Adapalene • Alustra • Avage • Avita • Differin • Isotretinoin • Renova • Retin A • Tazarac • Tazarotene • Tretinoin • Retinol

    Facial waxing cannot be performed if you have had laser skin resurfacing within the past year or have had a physician administered peel within the past 2 years. You must wait a minimum of 7 days before facial waxing after a light chemical peel or microdermabrasion.

    You must be off Retin A, Retinol, Tretinoin or any acne treatment for at least 2 weeks to receive any facial waxing. You may experience extra sensitivity to waxing up to a week prior to the beginning of your period. Sunburned or irritated areas cannot be waxed.

  • We recommend staying on a schedule of every 5-6 weeks, without any trimming or shaving in between. Staying on this time schedule will allow for an easier wax with longer lasting results.

  • Yes, a legal guardian is required to be present for the appointment and sign a waiver form. We do not offer Brazilians under the age of 16, however we do offer Bikini. Feel free to text for any further questions.

  • Take 2 ibuprofen an hour before your appointment.   • Please arrive with the your skin clean, and the areas that will be waxed, free of makeup. Freshening wipes will be provided for you in the room. Moisturizer is perfectly fine to apply prior to your appointment and is actually preferred. If you are on your period (even at the very end) please wear a fresh tampon to your appointment. Do not trim prior to your appointment! We need 3 weeks of hair growth without trimming or shaving.
